My therapeutic approach focuses on creating a sense of safety and support, so that you are able to tell your story and speak your truth without fear of judgment. I accept you exactly as you are, as well as help you connect with yourself and uncover your authentic voice. I believe you possess everything you need to cope with any obstacle and feel empowered to live a life full of purpose and joy.
I am Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor in Charlotte, North Carolina. I began my career as a nurse with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville. After earning a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, I transitioned to work as a nurse practitioner specializing in child sexual abuse and pediatric hematology and oncology. Over twelve years of nursing, I realized the profound impact mental health has on physical health and wholeness. I found myself back in school, and earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
When I started my practice, I called it The Nest Counseling for several reasons. First, I believe that you have a safe place inside of you, your own cozy internal nest, and counseling can help you cultivate it. Second, the places you come from—especially your first nest, your family of origin—have a profound impact on your life. Third, many of my clients are responsible for nurturing loved ones as a parent or caregiver, and need support to create a nest for others. Finally, The Nest represents my office space, which I hope will feel warm, safe, and accepting.
It takes tremendous courage to reach out for help. I am glad you are here and feel humbled and honored to walk with you on your journey.
